Who We Are

Arts Live is a community arts provision delivered by Garforth Academy and the Delta Academies Trust. We have one simple aim, and that is to provide access to high-quality arts provision to as many people as possible.

Arts Live is currently based at Garforth Academy. The classes are open to anyone wishing to take part from across Leeds, Wakefield and the surrounding areas, although some of the groups may have entry criteria based on minimum or maximum ages or levels of competency.

All of the groups within Arts Live work with professional tutors. We place a high emphasis on regular performance, recording or exhibitions with each group and we provide many opportunities to do so in the local community and the wider region.

Terms & Conditions

Arts Live Terms & Conditions:

All participants must be members of Arts Live to join any groups. To become a member you must fill out and sign an enrolment form (these are available on request artslive@garforthacademy.org.uk). By signing the enrolment form you agree to these terms and conditions. It is essential that you provide us with contact details including an email address that you check regularly; we will use email as the primary means of communication. You must notify us as soon as possible of any changes to the details provided on your enrolment form.

Payments:

There are termly fees which differ depending on the group you attend. The termly fee guarantees 10 sessions per term (a session is a workshop, rehearsal or a performance). This applies to all groups unless stated otherwise. We do not issue refunds if you miss a session. If a session is cancelled by Arts Live and this reduces the number of available sessions that term to below 10, we will extend the payment deadline for the next term. If you choose to leave the group you have joined mid-term you will not be issued a refund for the remaining sessions you have chosen not to attend.

Garforth Academy which runs Arts Live uses a cashless system and payments can be made via ParentPay if your child attends the school or BACS if you are external. If you are registered on the Garforth Academy ParentPay system you can only pay Arts Live fees via that system.

Payment of termly fees are due by the “payment due date” stated on each emailed invoice. If the deadline is missed your membership will be revoked and lessons suspended until the outstanding balance is paid in full.

Guitar Groups

Every Thursday 5:00pm – 5:45pm (Music Room 88)

These groups are led by versatile guitarist Simon Franklin, Simon is a professional guitarist who has worked for ArtsLive for many years. Simon studied guitar and music at Leeds University and has taught guitar professionally for over 20 years. His past students have gone on to great success, with many currently performing in professional bands or as solo artists and session musicians. As well as teaching Simon has played guitar all over the world and has performed with members of Iron Maiden, Warlock and Within Temptation.

The Arts Live guitar groups are the ideal place for a beginner to advanced guitarist who wants to learn more in a relaxed and encouraging environment alongside other guitarists. The sessions move progressively though the basics of chords, lead lines and finger picking techniques. We encourage our participants to take part in ensemble band and solo performances at our end-of-term shows, to show off their skills.
