We have a well-constructed curriculum, tailored to meet the needs of our learners and address social disadvantage. Our curriculum offer is adapted to meet individual needs where appropriate and therefore provides a range of pathways, which we believe broaden rather than narrow the offer at different points during pupil’s seven-year journey. This is essential to develop independent learners who can make informed choices Post 16. Our NEET figures are below the national average of 2.8% at 2%. Progression into Further Education remains high at 93% with 66% of Year 11 pupils progressing into our sixth form and an additional 18% external pupils choosing to join Garforth Academy at the start of Year 12. We support around 6% of our pupils to gain apprenticeships as this is more appropriate for their individual needs. Sixth form retention rates are also high at 96%. Final destinations demonstrate that our curriculum offer is meeting the needs of our leaners with 24% enrolling onto apprentiships at the end of Year 13, 11% moving into employment and 43% taking up University places.
We offer a broad range of subjects at Key Stage Three progressing onto a variety of academic, technical and vocational courses at Key Stage 4 and subsequently at Key Stage 5. We plan to extend to a three year Key Stage 3 in September 2020.
