Course Summary:

Assessment of GCSE Mathematics focuses on 6 key areas, which are covered across all 3 exam papers. Each area has detailed breakdowns of sub-topics covered within them which can be found via the specification on the Edexcel website. Students build on the skills that they have been taught over KS3, developing the necessary knowledge and understanding to be able to tackle all 6 key areas effectively through a range of questions set in both mathematical and non-mathematical contexts. Two tiers are available for students: The foundation tier allows students to access up to a grade 5 and the Higher tier allows students to achieve between grades 4-9 (although grade 3 is allowed). Students will study for the tier that is most appropriate for them according to the assessments that they have completed at KS3.
