Staff and students across the Academy have been raising money in the last half term for Yorkshire Air Ambulance through a range of events and sales. Every day throughout our region and beyond, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance team work tirelessly to help save lives. We are proud to be supporting this cause, with the following taking place over the last month:
- Staff created their own Christmas cards for a competition that was judged by the student council. The cards were then sold to students alongside some of their designs, with the top 4 cards being auctioned off to staff, sparking a fierce bidding war that helped to raise more cash.
- In Design and technology, students have been making their own model air ambulances that are being displayed in the Academy reception. This has not only been raising awareness of the cause of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, but also making students consider their use of plastic, another cause that is being campaigned for by the Academy's Green Leaders.
- Festive Jumper day took place on Tuesday 18th December, with staff and students sporting a range of colours, lights and jingles on their festive themed knits. Everyone who participated donated £1 to support Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the fund raising didn't stop there, with post 16 students organising the annual christmas fair. Each form ran their own stall with raffles, games and even hand and arm massages being offered from our Hair and Beauty students in exchange for donations.
We will update you with the total once all donations have been counted. In the meantime, check out our Twitter pages @DeltaGarforth and @GAPost16 for more pictures and details from the events.
