KS5 Results Official Press Release - Students prepare for the next step after impressive results

Garforth Academy, a member of the Delta Academies Trust, have achieved another outstanding set of Key Stage 5 results this year which build on the record set of results for the Academy last year. Our A Level and Academic Value Added scores have been significantly above national average for the past 3 years with this year’s figure expected to be above +0.10. This puts us in the in the top 25% of all Key Stage 5 providers nationally including 6thform colleges and private schools.

All students did incredibly well and were delighted with their results which they had worked so hard to achieve. Over a quarter of all grades were A-A* and 57% were A*-B. With such high levels of results it is impossible to distinguish who stands out, so we have decided not to name individuals!

However, there were lots of individual successes including students with 2A* and A grades and a larger than normal number of students achieving 3 A grades. With such fantastic results the destinations of these students are secured. The majority will go off to university this year with a sample of university destinations and courses shown below:

Child Nursing – University of York

Cancer Sciences – University of Nottingham

Mechanical Engineering – University of Sheffield

Biological Science – University of Birmingham

Physics – University of Manchester

History – University of Liverpool

Communication, Media and Cultural Studies – Newcastle University

Economics and Maths – University of Leeds

Whilst many of our students will go off to university to study next year around 40% of them will go to apprenticeships and we again have many stories of students being successful in their results and in securing fantastic apprenticeship opportunities. These include Business Degree Apprenticeships at PWC and Ernst & Young.

We are absolutely delighted for all our students and wish them all the very best of luck as they move onto University, employment or whatever other destinations they choose to follow!
