On Monday 1st July the Design & Technology department took a group of Year 8 students to the Robotics and Coding event, hosted by The Grammar School at Leeds.
The event was organised by the Royal Academy of Engineering.
The students had the opportunity to talk to professional Engineers about their jobs, got to fly drones (both real and simulated), experience and control the use of experimental robots from Leeds University and use virtual reality to solve engineering problems. They also attended a lecture about the use of robotics in medicine and biomimicry.
A great time was had by all the students, who especially liked the drone flying, despite crashing it in to the wall, ceiling and breaking a rotor blade off!
