As a student in Garforth Academy Sixth Form, you will be assigned a form tutor. This person will be your first line in support throughout your time in College. You will have weekly tutorials in which your personal progress will be discussed, and after each reporting cycle your tutor will spend time having more in depth interviews with each student. In this way we aim to support all our students through their different courses chosen. In particular, vocational students will find that their course tutor will also be their form tutor. The closer link should enable tutors to be more able to respond to students' needs quicker and more effectively.
All members of the Sixth Form Team are available to provide pastoral support to students whenever it is required. There is a specialist Pastoral Assistant Director Post 16. The Academy also works closely with Extended Services, including counsellors and Mentors.
Garforth Academy students benefit from a high level of Careers guidance and support. Mrs Costoya and Mrs Thomson, the Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance Co-ordinators (CEIAG) are located within the ILC and help students to make informed, well considered decisions on their futures.

The Sixth Form Student Council is the means by which students in the Sixth Form can raise and address issues relevant to the Sixth Form. Members of the Sixth Form Council are elected by the Sixth Form. The Sixth Form Student Council is also an active participant in Charity Fund raising in College, and liaising with other student councils via the Family of Schools Councils. The Council also has the responsibility for organising social events for the Sixth Form. The student council is lead by elected Head Students.
