The Academy continues to look at ways we can reduce our carbon footprint, In the fight against plastic waste we are trialling a brand-new way for students to purchase drinks.

From Tuesday  21^st June, students are encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles into the Academy to use with our brand new generation juice machine.  The machine works like a water fountain, dispensing flavoured water into the students own reusable bottle. The machine will be in the main canteen.

Each drink is 100% school compliant, infused with vitamins and minerals, and promotes hydration through chilled drinks including redberry, apple, cherry, lemon, mango, ginger and elderberry. Each drink is 100% gluten and lactose free, vegan, and use natural flavours and real juice.

We throw away 34kg of plastic packaging per person every year. In our school 100’s of plastic bottles are used every day. Many of these are not recycled and over 42% still ends up being incinerated, in landfill or as land and ocean litter. We realise plastic can cause irreparable damage to the environment and can be lethal to wildlife, so going plastic free is an integral part of our school sustainability objectives.

We hope parents and Students support this new and exciting initiative. The self-service Drinks Hub will help us eliminate use of single-use plastics.
