The Leeds United Foundation and Garforth Academy partnership is very exciting and of huge benefit to our students.

As part of the partnership the Leeds United Foundation part-fund a full-time qualified Careers Advisor, Vicky Pointing, who is based at Garforth Academy. Vicky support students through one-to-one careers guidance meetings to build self-awareness and to understand and explore their short and long term options.

The partnership also enables students to have access to bespoke careers education sessions that will take place at Elland Road, as well as on site at Garforth Academy.

Students will have access to careers resources featuring Leeds United players and staff, showcasing the huge range of career opportunities that are key to running a successful football club.

This scheme of career development is in line with the Leeds Inclusive Growth strategy, with a real focus on tackling inequality, improving skills and opportunities, and supporting all sections of our society into better jobs.

Mark Newstead, Vice Principle at Garforth Academy, said: “We are delighted to be working with such a high profile and successful organisation as the Leeds United Foundation and it is clear to us that they share many of the same values as Garforth Academy.

“Together we are completely aligned in striving to support young people in the local area. We put a huge emphasis on developing students who are well rounded and ready for the next stage of their life journey. This partnership is already having a massively positive impact on our students and supporting our work to produce students who leave us ready for the real world.”
