National Careers Week (NCW) is a one-week celebration of careers guidance across the UK. The NCW aim is to provide a focus to help support young people develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.

You can find the very informative ‘Parents Guide to NCW 2024’ here

The guide covers topics such as: Options at 16 and 18, Career Pathways, Apprenticeships and TLevels.

National Careers Week activity in school:

  • Unifrog House Competition- the more activity on our careers platform, Unifrog, the more house points there are to be won. Students can use Unifrog to develop self-awareness, identify and articulate skills and strengths, explore careers, build a CV, research universities and apprenticeship providers, watch webinars….etc
  • BBC Bitesize NCW Themed days- each day this week period 1 teachers will look into a different careers related theme as a starter activity using the BBC Bitesize videos Tips and inspiration: National Careers Week 2024 – Careers – BBC Bitesize

To embrace the celebratory message of National Careers Week, which is also about raising the profile of careers education…we are very proud of our careers programme at Garforth Academy, which runs all year round (not just on NCW).

One example of recent careers activity is last half term’s careers focused LIFE lessons – including 5 careers education lessons, class sized ’employer encounters’, and Y11 Mock Interviews.
